Reshaping the Sky

In a world where queer voices are often stifled, especially far from big cities, the experience of non-heterosexual people living in rural areas can be particularly isolating and difficult. It was to break this silence and create a space for dialogue and listening that I launched a call for testimonies on social networks, inviting members of my local queer community to share their realities and experiences.

More than 100 people responded to this call, breaking the silence and making their voices heard. In listening to these poignant testimonies, I was deeply touched by the challenges facing our community, and especially my own. Far from the light pollution of cities, under a starry sky, we created a safe and conducive space for exchange and reflection, sharing our joys, our sorrows and our doubts.

By admiring the immensity and complexity of the cosmos, I became aware of the richness and diversity of gender and human desire. As scientists once discovered that the Earth is not the center of the universe, the performance of heterosexuality and masculinity is no longer the center of mine. This realization led me to a fundamental discovery about my own identity: it is not fixed. It is fluid, changeable and multiple.

Thus, with my brethren, we let our eyes, accustomed to the blinding light of cis-heterocentrism, acclimatize to the darkness of the night. In this darkness, we were able to rediscover the world in a whole new light and finally understand ourselves and each other.
