Portrait
This pop-up exhibition, created in celebration of my five-year anniversary as a photographer, was a turning point for my practice. I had discovered photography in my late teens, providing family and corporate portrait services. Over time, this work became more and more difficult me for me, as the people I had to photograph would almost always violently disparage their own appearance.
For this first exhibition, I invited people to have their picture taken, and this led me to an exploration of the practice of portraiture. I think this quest allowed me to accept what I had sensed from the beginning, in my perception of the humans I photographed as well as in my ways of working. Then, for a single November night, I turned a restaurant of the city of Alma as well as the street around it into an “exhibition space.” This ignited a fire inside me.
